More than 200 years ago, the famous brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm lived here. For their fairy tale and legend collections, they travelled across North Hessen to listen to the tales, which were only orally transmitted at that time.
In 1812 the first volume of the Children‘s and Household Tales was published. Thenceforth, the Grimm’s fairy tales became very popular all over the world. Today, more and more visitors discover the hidden treasures of our fabulous region.
From the Edersee to the Werra Valley, from the Reinhardswald to Little Red Riding Hood's Country, a popular hiking an biking region awaits you. Lovely cities present themselves like precious pearls. Romantic half-timbered buildings or stylish baroque houses shape the town scapes. Varied cultural activities define the city life. The cosmopolitan centre is Kassel, with its fabulous parks, the collection Alte Meister (Old Masters) in the Wilhelmshöhe castle, as well as numerous shopping offers.
In many places, the world of Grimm‘s fairy tales and legends is still alive. In the Sleeping Beauty Castle Sababurg, on the Mother Hulda Mountain, the Hohe Meißner, during the fairy tale week in Bad Sooden-Allendorf, or in the lovely Snow White Village Bergfreiheit near Bad Wildungen.
