The Ecological Village Path in the Kleinern climatic health resort
Kleinern is a small, family-friendly climatic health resort in the adventure region of Edersee, right on the edge of the Kellerwald – Edersee National Park. Holiday-makers have been coming here for many decades to enjoy the unspoiled landscape and rural culture.
The inhabitants have maintained their original traditions and know the way a rural life is to be led. It was one of the reasons why in 2009 the village was awarded the 1st prize in the federal competition “Our village has a future” and now prepares for the competition at national level.
In order to get the guests acquainted with the history and originality of a typical village, in 1996 an ecological village path was developed, with initially 13 and now with 17 interesting highlights.
The guest is guided through the village for about 1 hour along the path of 3.5 km and, among other things, can have a look at the baking house, typical plants and animals, the village well and the church; on each subject, texts are given that make history live again.
The circular route ends in the Recreation Resort Spicke with its idyllic location in the Wesebach dale, which offers adventure and recreation in close contact with nature, particularly for families.
There is a “foot experience field” where walking becomes a “process”, sound instruments allowing to find out how sound tracks move through the valley, a pond with a raft to cross, an insect house, suspension bridge, volleyball and table tennis, and many other family distractions.
To spend your free time here means: adventure, experience, recognition, observation and reflection.
One just feels the direct proximity of the national park.
