Rural Museum at Wülmersen
The long-standing tradition of rural life and labour at the former manor of Wülmersen is continued in the Rural Museum.
The museum is located in a 19th century barn. Every year, from May to October, it houses exhibitions on themes such as agricultural engineering, rural life, rural crafts and regional history.
In 2012, the museum presents the exhibition “Heimat-Dinge”. 135 people have given their personal “Heimat-Ding” to the museum – an object that encapsulates a sense of belonging to the villages, towns, and landscapes around Kassel. This creates a rich picture of what “Heimat” means to people.
An action-oriented design, action days and educational offers (upon request) allow an active visit of the museum for kids, as well as for adults. The adjacent storage with the entire collection of the Museum can be visited in the course of guided tours. More than 1.000 exhibits show the development of agricultural engineering, crafts and everyday life in the countryside and in the forest in the first half of the 20th century.
At the kiosk of the Museum, you can equip yourself with food and beverages and recreate for further tours through the magnificent Diemel River valley.
