The sun glints through the leaves and paints islands of light in the shadows in the woods. Follow the small, cool brook.

I come from Wallenstein and I want to explore the awarded Lochbach path. A stretch of eight and a half kilometres lies ahead of me till the circular route leads me back to my starting point near a large “L” marked on the trees.
During thousands of years, the Lochbach has dug its way through the soft sandstone layers and left back a deep ravine. Now, the Waldbach overcomes a height difference of 150 metres. Large cliffs of coloured sandstone have become visible and a landscape with ferns has developed under the cover of the trees.
16 wooden bridges step over the Lochbach, one and a half kilometres through a jungle-like scenery. The climb is easy. At the end, it leads to the climatic health resort of Hülsa and discloses a wide panorama on the plateau, which has been a further trump for the certification as an awarded path. I discover the Eisenberg and the Knüllköpfchen in the far distance. They say that in springtime, wild orchids bloom here in the poor meadows. I won’t be disillusioned. Bumblebees crawl into the umbels of the blossom at the meadow and relish in it.
For the moment, the sight from the Ferdinand Kersting lodge, reaching from the Rinnetal up to the Kellerwald will do for me. Today it's my lucky day, visibility is high and there they appear, the towers of the Fritztaler Dom.
You could also start at the Kankowski lodge on the circular route, which now leads me past the Ebigköpfchen to Wallenstein. I took my time, I had a rest and I was on the way for more than two and a half hours. I take a deep breath and think of the beautiful picture painted just for me by the “Artist called Nature”.
