Kassel: Kulturbahnhof Caricatura
The art gallery Caricatura is the centre for comic art in Germany. Several exibitions and other events with subjects as caricature, satire, and humour give an overview about trends and everything important in the comic wolrd.
In 1995 “culture” moved into central station Kassel. With the Bali-Cinemas, Caricatura (gallery for comic art), Gleis 1 (venue for live music as well as bar/restaurant, Stellwerk (art gallery), Kassel Centre for Architecture (Kasseler Architekturzentrum KAZ) and the Open Television Channel Kassel (Offener Kanal) it has a lot to offer in art and savoir vivre!
In 1997 the KulurBahnhof was also starting point of the documenta-course and was registered as worldwide project of the EXPO 2000 in the same year.
For 17 years the gallery Caricatura provides successfully exhibitions and events with subjects as caricature, criticism, and humour and has with this commitment contributed to the fact that Kassel became a centre for satire.
Caricatura administrates the only gallery for comic art in Germany. Each year five changing art shows with top artists in this genre are on display. Normally these exhibitions have a considerable supporting programme. By now 14 productions are also available as touring exhibitions.
